Senior Infants Fun!
The Senior Infant children were extremely busy throughout the Spring term with lots of fun activities in groups. The children work very well together and especially enjoy working with friends during maths activities using construction materials. They made amazing patterns with lollipop sticks and created 2-D characters and objects with coloured paper and card. The children worked really hard designing and building robots using 3D shapes that we have learned about in maths. We took advantage of the change in weather to bring our learning outdoors and used our 'Maths Eyes' and engaged in lots of Action Maths.
Reading with friends has been a favourite time in the classroom and the children have spent lots of time working together to find Wally! The 'Where's Wally?' books were in high demand throughout the term and there was quite a bit of competition in the classroom! As part of Wellness Week, we painted positive pebbles and built a long snake full of positive and happy thoughts. The children also made some lovely art work for Valentine's Day, designed and decorated hats for St. Patrick's Day, painted a lovely Spring picture with fluffy lambs and used colourful crepe paper to create an amazing bird collage.
As part of our music curriculum, the children made shakers from their choice of materials. We had rice, pasta, sugar, couscous, lentils and cereal hoops. We ordered the shakers from loudest to softest and vice versa and used them to keep a steady beat to Irish music in Seachtain na Gaeilge. The children had the opportunity to perform on stage as part of the school 'Talent Show'. The girls and boys sang some lovely songs and were very proud of their excellent performance.
