Fun Outdoors in Monivea!
We took advantage of the beautiful weather to enjoy some outdoor learning at Monivea NS. We are very lucky to have some amazing school grounds with lots of excellent places to hunt for 'Minibeasts'. The children used pooters to collect the insects they found. They had a great time running around looking for all sorts of interesting creatures. In the classroom, we discussed the different types of insects and classified them into groups. We also discovered that snails really like the school astro in the early mornings! We used balloons to print 'The Very Hungary Caterpillar'. With ladybirds, caterpillars are one of the children's favourite minibeasts.
The children engaged in water activities including walking and balancing with bowls of cold water to develop coordination. It was quite tricky but lots of fun! We talked about forces being a push or a pull and played a game called 'Pop Off' in which the children pushed small balls through cups to travel at a distance.
